About

Next Step Organization

An education initiative in Sulaimani that puts institutions and students in the same room, for free, once a year.

01

Mission

A student should not have to know someone to find out what a degree costs. Next Step exists so that entry scores, tuition, deadlines and funding are answered by the people who decide them, in one hall, at no cost to the student.

02

History

The first edition in 2023 was two days, nine institutions and 4,200 visitors. 2024 added a seminar programme and registered parents in their own right. 2025 drew 14,600 visitors, opened the first scholarship desk and registered the organisation as an SDG Acceleration Action with UN DESA. 2026 runs for three days and adds a policy conference on the opening day.

03

Team

The fair is run by Next Step Organization under Avin Qadir, Organizer and Co-Founder, with a guidance team of counsellors who spend the spring in schools across Sulaimani and Halabja before the September edition.
